Cultural Differences are Stored in the Brain

According to neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett, “emotions are neither universal nor located in specific brain regions; they vary by culture and result from dynamic neuronal networks.” Our brains create our emotions and our thoughts, and our differing backgrounds act as filters informing our unique perspectives and reactions to the world.

Let’s embrace and engage in #DEI efforts. As organizations and individual contributors, we all need increased understanding and appreciation for each other. When we celebrate our cultural differences, we tap into an enriching dimension we would not otherwise be able to access.
